Never get off the saddle again

That’s what Annie would most like. In the showroom, she sits on the yellow momo tricycle. and lowers her head with a sigh. Get up? No way!

Let’s start from the beginning. Three quarters of an hour ago, the eight-year-old, who was born with trisomy 21, got out of her parents’ car in front of the Schuchmann building. Dog Bosso, an Italian water dog, was looking forward to going for a walk in the nearby Eistruper Berg forest, and Annie is looking forward to cycling. That’s why she came all the way to Bissendorf with her mother Susana and father Horst to take part in the test day.

Meeting momo. on a walk

The family, who lives near Heidelberg, found out about Schuchmann during a walk in their home town. There they met a family whose child was riding a momo tricycle. “What kind of cool bike is that?” asked father Horst, who had been looking for a larger therapy bike for his daughter for some time. Annie has some walking limitations and a learning delay due to her trisomy. The Heidelberg family are currently on holiday in Oldenburg, so Bissendorf was practically on the way.

Annie has got the knack

The girl stands there fidgety with anticipation of being able to cycle straight away. “She has a child’s bike with training wheels, but it’s too small and too wobbly,” says her mother Susana. The new bike will help Annie with her walking therapy and at the same time contribute to her participation with her peers. But for now, Annie is getting some tips from our field worker Jan, who is conducting the test and trial day. For example, he shows her how to easily release the parking brake on the handlebars. Now it can finally start. Annie puts her feet on the pedals and takes the momo therapy bicycle. for a few careful laps in the car park. Father Horst and Jan run alongside to the left and right. So much sport at almost 26 degrees is not really fun. Almost every morning Annie rides her bike with her parents to her school 20 minutes away. It’s a good workout.

Spoilt for choice – colour, bike and accessories

Now Annie sees the larger momo motion. with e-drive and bicycle basket. “Wow, not bad either,” she says and immediately wants to get on. The same game from the front. Annie pedals and Jan and father Horst run alongside. This time even faster.

Which bike should it be now? “Preferably both,” says Annie, who has now taken a seat on a yellow momo tricycle. in the showroom and lets her eyes fall closed in exhaustion. Meanwhile, her parents are looking at accessories. The push bar seems useful to them. “Annie is sometimes a bit boisterous and we can catch her with that,” laughs mother Susana.

Joint excursions with the bike planned

Now it’s time to choose the colour. Wide awake again, the girl points to the light blue colour card and hugs her father tightly for joy. “My dad, my Horst,” she says and everyone laughs. Meanwhile, her dog Bosso is already dreaming on the blanket in the car about the dog beach at the lake near Oldenburg. That’s where they want to go now and enjoy the lovely weather.

One thing is for sure. Annie will also sleep well tonight after the exciting day and dream of a blue momo therapy bicycle.
