Looking back at the EACD/IAACD Congress 2025 in Heidelberg.

Inclusion thrives on exchange – and that’s exactly what the EACD made possible.

What inspiring days! We look back with great enthusiasm on the joint congress of the European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability (EACD) and the International Alliance of Academies of Childhood Disability (IAACD), which took place in Heidelberg.

Under the motto “Developing Networks – Networks for Development”, professionals from around the world came together: doctors, therapists, researchers, individuals with lived experience, and parent representatives.

For us at Schuchmann, it was a wonderful opportunity to gain new knowledge from science, follow international developments, and engage in personal exchange. Particularly exciting were the numerous presentations on topics such as early intervention, participatory care concepts, and the use of assistive devices in interdisciplinary therapy.

We were also proud to present our current studies at the EACD/IAACD Congress. Our training manager and occupational therapist Andrea Espei, along with our German field sales representative Nadine Gallenbach, shared the latest findings from various studies on dynamic standing and dynamic standing therapy. Jule Beßler, our quality assurance officer, also presented studies on systematic standing as well as forward-oriented standing therapy.

The exchange outside the lecture halls was equally valuable – whether at the exhibition booths, during breaks, or at the evening get-togethers. We reconnected with many familiar faces, made new contacts, and took away exciting ideas.

Our conclusion:

The EACD Congress was a true highlight – both in terms of content and human connection. As a manufacturer of assistive devices for children with disabilities, it is essential for us to stay close to current developments, listen, and remain in dialogue. Only together can we develop the solutions that truly help children move forward.
