1 What is a gait trainer and who is it suitable for?<\/h4>\n

All walking aids, from walking sticks and rollators to gait trainers, basically help people to get around. They transfer weight to the hands and help to maintain balance.<\/p>\n

Rollators and gait trainers are available in different types with different functions. They can either be pushed in front of the body (anterior) or pulled behind the body (posterior). Compared to rollators, gait trainers offer important accessories such as a positioning saddle, which takes even more weight off the legs and feet. Various individualised supports can also be fitted to a gait trainer. This allows people with mobility impairments to receive the best possible support for their walking ability.<\/p>\n

Different models of gait trainers for both children and adults have a common basic concept: they are light, mobile and manoeuvrable. Pads in the pelvic and trunk area provide stability when standing and walking, while the optional seat takes on part of the body weight.
